Greetings and salutations! Been a while since I’ve reported any news. With the Odyssey Team being careful to reveal upcoming album cover art and summaries themselves in recent days, it feels like there’s been a dry spell in regard to Odyssey news. However, although I have been unable to find any extremely major news items, we do have a few things to report.
Earl Boen
First of all, actor Earl Boen, known for his role as Edwin and Regis Blackgaard, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023. A tribune podcast featuring a never-before heard interview as well as studio recordings of Boen voicing for Edwin and Regis was recently released, so I recommend giving it a listen.
Album 74 Back Cover Revealed
Thanks to Tyndale, we now have the back cover for Album 74: Buckle Up!

I’m wondering what exactly these collectible inserts inside are. If any of our readers out there know, feel free to tell us, I’m curious! This newest album is available for purchase from Focus on the Family, Tyndale, CBD, and Amazon, so be sure to buy a copy!
Young Whit Books 4-5 Back Covers Revealed
The cover arts and summaries for books 4 and 5 in the Young Whit books series were recently revealed. Although they are unavailable for purchase, we now have images of the back covers of them both, thanks to Tyndale.

Looks interesting. Whit clearly had the idea of the Imagination Station years before the episodes in Album 5: Daring Deeds, Sinister Schemes, and even before the episode “The Shepherd and the Giant”.

Interesting how it mentions “the evil men on C.O.S.U.” I’m assuming Mangle will be playing a bigger role in this book as well as the organization as a whole.
Preview for Young Whit & the Phantasmic Confabulator
That’s right, we’ve got a preview for the fourth book in the series! Be sure to check it out and also pre-order it on its page on Amazon! Both books release on August 8, 2023.
Well, that’s all the news for now. I do have another piece of information regarding something upcoming, but I’ll save that for another post. Until then, enjoy reading the preview for the fourth Young Whit book and listening to Album 74: Buckle Up! which is currently airing on the radio. Hopefully in the coming weeks we’ll be able to make a few more consistent posts.

Nice! I’m curious to know what your opinion on it is. I’ve heard lots of mixed opinions regarding the newest album. Did you like it?

Haha yeah there’s one moment in particular that I imagine could be polarizing! I thought it was a lot of fun, though I agreed with Connie on the polarizing part (if you know which part I mean) haha

So the collectibles are like mini posters. They used to just have advertisements on them if you ever saw that. It was a square piece of paper inside the case. Back in the old days (late 1900s-early 200s [in the 12 episode albums]) they used to have the summaries on the paper but now it’s on the inside of the case and they advertise albums on the paper. The posters are pictures of a bunch of different characters. Usually the 3 main characters (Connie, Eugene, and Whit) are them along with a whole bunch of other characters new and old.

Oh, so that’s what the collectibles are! I have not bought a physical album in a long time, so I have no idea what the packaging or design or inserts in the albums are looking like now. I do remember the papers in the albums with the episode summaries. It’s interesting to hear that there are now character poster inserts instead and are being advertised on the back of the albums. I suppose that they could be considered a collectable item.
Thank you for the comment letting me know, I have been wondering about those “collectable insert” things were for several albums now!
