First off, major spoiler warning!
I’m very serious. I’m even writing this warning in large font, so it must be important. But seriously, I beg you, do NOT read this post if you have not listened to Album 71, because it will be spoiled for you. I repeat, this post contains MAJOR Album 71 spoilers. And Album 72 spoilers, so if you don’t want to know the summary and title of alum 72, don’t read this post.
Okay, you’ve been warned.
The title and summary for Album 72 has been revealed!
Album 72 is titled, “The Long Road Home”.
And here’s the summary! (And if you are still reading this, then this is your last chance to STOP. Unless, of course, you want to be majorly spoiled about Album 71 (and 72).)
Adventures in Odyssey audio dramas release the imagination of both young and old as listeners follow a host of characters through adventures in the town of Odyssey. Geared towards kids ages 8 and up, these high-quality audio dramas teach biblical truths and moral foundations for children to make decisions from throughout their lives. They are perfect for car rides and initiating important conversations with kids.
In The Long Road Home, album #72 of the series, important lessons are learned about friendship, family, and judging others.
“Have you ever considered that Mr. John Avery Whittaker has his own agenda?” Olivia has a new friend in her life. He’s smart, interesting, and just so talkative. Will his influence, and Olivia’s own desire to settle some scores, ruin her friendships with Zoe and the gang at Whit’s End? Will his devious comments convince Olivia to abandon her faith?
Meanwhile, Buck and Jules discover that Buck’s father left behind a lot more than could ever have been suspected. Could the map help him determine what is next for his life? Because he’s beginning to wonder if he really wants to be in a family with Eugene and Katrina. Elsewhere in Odyssey, Bridgett Perkins learns a good lesson about judging others when she feels that her own life is under the microscope.
Amazon
This album will be released on March 8, 2022. Be sure to pre-order it from Amazon!
This summary confirms that the recently recorded episode “Judge Me Tender” will be in this album. We also know that the Buck and Jules episode will be a 3-part episode, as it was confirmed in the Official Adventures in Odyssey Podcast. I assume that “The Lost One”, an Album 72 episode title which was confirmed in the bonus feature of Album 71: A Slippery Slope, will be the episode about Olivia and will conclude the story of her doubting her faith. I wonder who this “new friend” is?
And we also know the time when this album will release in the Adventures in Odyssey Club. I mentioned in a previous post, A Club moderator said that the next album, “…will be released in the Club beginning in mid-December.” I’m going to guess December 14, 2021, but that’s just a guess.
I am very excited for this album! Now we need to wait for the cover art to be revealed.
What are your thoughts? Any theories about this album? Be sure to leave a comment!

So cool! It’s obvious to me that Olivia’s new friend is Leonid Sepinov, from “Triple-Decker Sundae.” Thanks for being on top of the news!

I hope not. I know you liked him, but if you’ve heard my and John’s podcast you’ll know why we don’t like it.

I haven’t heard it yet. Why don’t you exactly?

As you said, this is a very dark spiritually thing to be happening to Olivia — but Leinid is played off as a joke. He reminds me of Gusteau in Ratatouille. For example, he says “I’ll pay you twenty rubels if you say that in testimony tomorrow!” and the part about not knowing what sheep are.
So I don’t like that creative choice because they represent the dark things happening in Olivia’s mind (possibly, even probably, spiritual warfare) by a character that seems like comic relief like Wooton. Just my thoughts, I can kind of see what you mean ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Oh, and one last thing: you got shivers when Olivia went to commit gluttony, but I couldn’t help burst out laughing because it just seemed like such a funny way to try to rebel. Even though it’s a children’s Christian audio drama, we’ve seen better rebellion. Skully was almost better in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment, Michael! There’s nothing I enjoy more than searching for the latest Odyssey news.
I had thought that Olivia’s friend would be Morrie Rydell, since that sounds like the kind of thing he would say, but Leonid Sepinov does make more sense.

I hope Leonid Sepiniv isn’t Olivia’s new friend

Wow, wow, wow. I was intrigued when Kathy Buchanan said a three-parter about Buck and Jules (presumably written by her) was going to be in the next album but now I’m super excited. Thanks for sharing the news!

The first sentence was rather ominous. The way the summary frames it and based on information shared on the podcast and official social media pages it seems that three episodes are the story with Buck and Jules, one is “Judge Me Tender”, another “The lost One” and another that presumably has to do with Whit’s “own agenda”. This makes me excited since all the stories sound serious and promising, but also a little disappointed since Olivia’s story will only get one or two episodes to wrap up the arc which doesn’t seem like enough considering all they’ve set up and will have to resolve in order to end it.
